Over 25 Years of Providing Custom Designed Training Throughout the United States To decrease the incidence of child abuse and neglect, all involved agencies, and departments within agencies, need to work in concert. Yet historically, many systems serving the same clientele have clashed in their philosophy and approach. Cross-training is an effective strategy that begins to address these issues and provide opportunities to problem solve. However, the cross-systems training must be strategically designed and tailored to fit the specific needs of each involved agency and/or department for it to be effective. Nicholson & Associates has created cross-systems training curricula that has proven its effectiveness over the past 25 years. The primary focus is establishing an atmosphere of safety that enables participants to be open and honest with each other in a respectful manner and to listen to everyone's perspective. Effective cross-systems training provides knowledge about different philosophies, approaches, and procedures, but more importantly, it enables participants to “walk in each other's shoes.” With empathy and understanding, participants are better equipped to dissolve any barriers existing between the agencies and continue to competently serve the clientele. |
